Little Events. Big Water Stories

Our Field Centre at the HoBB is an event venue for groups of eight to twelve. Whether for a tour, a get-together, a storytelling session or an informal meeting & exhibition, intimate groups can look at things properly, ask questions, sit around open fires, listen, talk and share.

"At the HoBB, it feels less like attending an event and more like being invited into somebody's world." (Maggie Grainger. Wu Wei Wisdom's Tai Chi group with David James Lees)

We’ve hosted musicians, crafters, gardeners, therapists, authors, artists, film makers, singers, architects, taoist monks, actors, archaeologists, dancers, walkers, presenters, business mentors and students from around the World.

"A small-scale test bed in which people begin to evolve much bigger stories."

Though all events, meetings and exhibitions are experienced live, they can also be filmed  and photographed, to include the exhibits and the conversations around them, for sharing online to give events a life beyond the day itself.

Volunteering opportunities

Visiting the HoBB Field Centre for an event or get-together is one thing, but volunteering here presents a full range of practical challenges: building aquaponics systems, growing plants, culturing ‘food for thought‘, writing & filming stories, cooking, pleatching, making compost, landscaping, designing, creating & curating exhibitions (or constructing/renovating exhibits).  Reasons to Volunteer on site or remotely

These are all micro-events with physical outcomes, bringing people, objects, ideas and practical activities together to make the connections that carry WOW’s messages across the World; some of our volunteers have returned to their home country to establish their own version of the HoBB.

Combining Strengths

Sometimes an organisation needs a particular skill, an extra pair of hands, a fresh perspective or help turning an idea into reality. It may not have the resources to employ someone or know where to find the support it needs. WOW has a long history of working alongside organisations, contributing practical skills, creative thinking and connections to help bring events and projects to life.
