“In response to the transformative shifts brought about by the aftermath of COVID-19, we are excited to unveil our new ‘Flexible Working and Working from Home Policy.’
This policy reflects our acknowledgment of the evolving landscape and the invaluable contributions from a geographically diverse team of volunteers who enhance our capabilities in areas such as video editing, social media, publishing, research, and fieldwork and extend it ‘further afield.’
Embracing flexibility, we are committed to optimizing our collaborative efforts for a more resilient and impactful future, globally.
WOW (World of Water) is committed to providing a flexible work environment that supports the well-being and productivity of our volunteers, supporters and helpers. This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for flexible working and working from home arrangements.
Eligibility: All volunteers are eligible to request flexible working arrangements and this may include working from home if it still meets the operational needs of the charity.
Request Process: Volunteers request flexible working arrangements by submitting a formal request which outlines the proposed arrangements and the reasons for the request.
Approval Process: Each request will be considered on its own merits, taking into account the operational needs of the charity and the individual circumstances of the volunteer. Decisions will be communicated in writing and in a timely manner.
Trial Period: Where appropriate, a trial period may be agreed to assess the suitability of the proposed flexible working arrangements.
Working Hours: Volunteers working from home are expected to adhere to their agreed working hours and to be available for communication during these hours.
Health and Safety: Volunteers working from home are responsible for ensuring that their home workspace is safe and suitable for work. The charity will provide guidance on setting up a home workspace.
This policy will be communicated to all volunteers and will be made available in the charity’s volunteer handbook.
The policy will be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure it remains in line with best practice and legal requirements.
This policy is designed to provide a framework for flexible working and working from home arrangements in line with UK guidelines and best practice and can be tailored to specific needs and circumstances.
