Join WOW’s Media Journey: Documenting Global Water Awareness

World of Water (WOW) is on a mission to protect and raise awareness about our planet’s most vital resource—water. As we continue building the International Water Corpus (IWC) and working toward the International Water Awareness Centre (IWAC), we are looking for talented and passionate media volunteers to help us document this journey and amplify our message.

Your Role in a Global Mission

You’ll be at the forefront of our efforts, using your skills to bring stories of water conservation, environmental stewardship, and WOW’s impact to a global audience. Whether it’s through film, audio, or other digital media, this project will focus on highlighting not just water’s critical role, but also the urgent work being done by communities, activists, and experts across the world.

What We Can Offer:

We’re calling on filmmakers, sound engineers, and content creators to join us in this exciting mission to amplify WOW’s work and help bring water conservation stories to the forefront of the environmental movement.

Here’s what’s available:

• New Recording Studio Space: We’re converting a small outbuilding at the Field Centre into a studio space.
• Exciting Fieldwork Opportunities: We will be participating in major events, such as the “Keep Water Clean” march in London this November. This is an opportunity to create meaningful media content—capturing the passion of thousands of people calling for clean water while promoting WOW’s core mission.
• On-the-Ground Environmental Advocacy: Volunteers will work closely with us on-site in Wales, helping to build the story of WOW’s long history, its impact, and the creation of the IWC. Our Powys Field Centre is near the site of Knucklas Castle which overlooks the River Teme valley. Powys itself is home to the Elan reservoirs and the tallest waterfall in Wales, so there are plenty of opportunities to capture stories about hydro-electric power, water supply, water conservation, water quality, water monitoring, sewage treatment, water pollution, farm run-off, and industrial farming water challenges.
• Be Part of a Global Water Network: From its Field Centre, set in the idyllic countryside of Wales, WOW connects with museums, researchers, local environmental advocates, farms, universities, marine engineers, businesses, and supporters. By documenting these relationships, volunteers will gain exposure to worldwide efforts on water conservation and help to establish working partnerships.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking individuals who are passionate about the environment and eager to make a difference through media and storytelling. Specific roles we’re looking for include:

• Filmmakers: Help document events, fieldwork, and interviews to create short films and documentaries.
• Sound Engineers: Record podcasts, interviews, and event soundscapes.
• Content Creators: Develop video series, social media campaigns, and more to showcase WOW’s work.
• Editors: Bring raw footage and audio to life with professional editing skills.
• Storytellers: Create compelling narratives that will educate and inspire people about the importance of water conservation.
