Research

At World of Water, our passion is for exploring our life-giving World through research into water – its essence, our heritage use of it, and its future care.

Whether you choose desk research into our archives as a Volunteer or dip your toes into our field initiatives, be prepared for an adventure that fathoms the depths of this blue planet and explores the far reaches of space water.

Collaborative and Multidisciplinary Research
Our Collections & Research Initiative brings together experts and enthusiasts from various fields to study and record the World’s vast realm of water-related knowledge within one corpus.

We strive to present this knowledge in a creative and visitor-friendly manner in exhibitions and events.

Continuously seeking innovative ways to leverage both our analog and digital collections, we always like to inspire and support new ideas through collaborative efforts.

Collections Research
We employ a consistent approach to decision-making regarding the development and acquisition of items for our collections. While we focus on carefully curating and exhibiting our existing materials, we are always keen to expand The Collections with items that will enhance our educational work and deepen our understanding of water’s life-giving significance.

Loans and Gifts
Due to the ubiquitous nature of water, its influence permeates every aspect of life. Each of us experiences and contributes to the world of water daily. To illustrate the wonders of this blue planet, we often borrow items for our exhibitions, showcasing their connection to water. Gifts also enrich our displays when we have the available exhibition space and appropriate storage conditions.

Collections Information
Do you have an interesting water-related object? Please take a look at our Collections Policy for starters. For up-to-date information on our exhibition programs and behind-the-scenes tours, please contact our secretary.

Research Facilities
There’s a big Water Centre in the planning. It will include a comprehensive range of water-related research facilities. We are presently inviting applications of interest from organizations, companies, and local authorities dedicated to solving global water issues—such as maintaining food production levels, water pollution abatement, harnessing tidal and hydro energy, habitat health, and waste reduction.

If you’ve a love of water and an interest in joining us on the shared global journey ahead, get in touch with us.
